You do not need new hardware to start collecting. If you own a turntable or a player, one small cable is the last piece, and we’ll tell you the exact one that fits your gear, then hand you the link.
Before you buy
Not sure what you need? We’ll tell you.
The #1 reason a first vinyl transfer comes back thin and quiet is not a bad cable. It’s the wrong cable for that setup. Two taps fixes that before you spend anything. Want the whole picture first? Read the guide.
You need just one capture cable.
Set that switch to LINE (or the preamp to ON) and you’re ready.
Your setup already brings the signal up to line level before it reaches us, so the cable is the whole story. RCA into your gear, USB-C into your phone, captured at full resolution: 24-bit / 96 kHz.
Why?
Vinyl’s true output is tiny and shaped by an equalization curve baked in at the pressing plant. Your gear already undoes that for you. Ours just has to listen.
And here’s where it lands: your library in the Uki app, yours to keep.
Nothing to buy. Just the Uki desktop app.
A CD is already digital, so nothing needs converting. Install Uki on the computer with the drive (Mac, Windows, or Linux), slide the disc in, and choose Collect, then CD, then Digital. The album lands lossless in your library. Nothing else to install. Uki reads the disc itself.
On Linux every track is error-corrected as it reads. On a Mac or a Windows PC the drive reads it straight, so a clean disc gives the best result.

Collect from your phone. The computer does the reading.
A phone can’t read a disc by itself, so a computer reads it for you. Plug any USB CD drive into it (or use the drive it already has), install the Uki desktop app, and leave the app open. On the same Wi-Fi, your phone finds it on its own. No codes, no pairing.
Then on your phone, choose Collect, then CD, then Digital. The computer reads the disc lossless and the album lands in your library.
And here’s where it lands: your library in the Uki app, yours to keep.
A ripper that reads the disc on its own.
A CD is already digital, so nothing needs converting. No computer needed: this ripper reads the disc by itself and saves lossless files to a USB stick. Plug the stick into your phone, and Uki collects the album into your library. It reads in real time and does not re-check the read for errors, so a clean, unscratched disc gives the best result. Have a CD player with a USB-C output instead? A plain USB-C cable into your phone is all you need.
And here’s where it lands: your library in the Uki app, yours to keep.
You’ll need a phono preamp, then the cable.
Straight off the needle, a turntable’s signal is too quiet and the wrong shape to record well. That’s true of most higher-end and older decks, not a flaw in yours. Two pieces fix it: a phono preamp that brings the signal up to level and untwists the curve, then the capture cable into your phone. Skip the preamp and the capture comes back quiet, thin, and bass-light, no matter how good the cable is.
And here’s where it lands: your library in the Uki app, yours to keep.
Let’s not guess with this one.
Turntables hide the answer in different places. Send us the make and model (there’s usually a sticker underneath) and we’ll tell you exactly what to buy, free, before you spend anything. Guess wrong here and the fix isn’t a returned cable, it’s re-collecting a whole side of a record.

The capture cable
For line-level gear: tape decks, CD players, and turntables with a built-in preamp (not sure? the guide above will tell you). Records vinyl and tape in lossless, 24-bit / 96 kHz. Uki’s pick: the Cubilux RCA→USB-C capture cable.
Only if your turntable has no built-in preamp (the Gear Check will tell you). Brings the signal up to level and untwists the curve, so the capture isn’t thin and quiet. Uki’s pick: the ART DJPRE II.
For collecting CDs with just your phone, no computer needed. It reads the disc by itself and saves lossless files to a USB stick. Plug the stick into your phone and Uki collects the album. Uki’s pick: the FiiO DM13.
Everything you capture is yours to keep. Membership adds cloud sync across your devices and is never required to own your music.
